The best season for spying grey whales is here! Calmer ocean conditions and weather makes it easier to spot resident and migrating whales in the springtime. It’s common for them to be seen “spy hopping” right off shore from Neahkahnie Mountain (yes, even right from the Eagle’s Nest!) One of the best places to watch for whales are from the Neahkahnie Mountain overlook pull-offs on Hwy. 101. Binoculars are helpful but not needed to spot the whales as they come in so close to the shoreline in the spring.
